New Tradition in Sports City USA 🎻🏈

Updated: Oct 7

For the past 14 years, Frisco has hosted the nationally televised NCAA FCS Football Championship at Toyota Stadium. The battling college teams have always arrived with their marching bands, who are an integral part of football culture. (Can you even imagine a game without music?)

There’s a country song called “If you’re gonna play in Texas, you’ve gotta have a fiddle in the band.”🎻 So this year, as South Dakota State and Montana University descended into Frisco to clinch the national title, we honored the marching bands as part of the winning teams by presenting each band director with a special commemorative fiddle! Their dedication to playing in all types of weather, practicing for hours, and performing their best at every game makes them champions as well!🏆

Thank you to The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band and the Montana Griz Football Marching Band for your many hours of practice and dedication, bringing your talent to every game.

A big thanks to Josh Dill at Visit Frisco for coordinating all the details to make it happen. It was a joy to kick off this new tradition in Frisco on behalf of our city council and growing arts community!
