COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
A branch of the Texas Women's Foundation, the Orchid Giving Circle Fund at Texas Women's Foundation is a group of dedicated Asian women working together to support social change and services for the North Texas Asian community. Over the past seven years, over $1 million has been awarded in grants for education, domestic violence, healthcare, arts and culture, and social services. I currently serve on the Communications Committee.

Frisco Arts Foundation

CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Named 2018 Nonprofit of the Year by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, the mission of the Frisco Arts Foundation (FAF) is to champion the arts through advocacy, education, and grant making. FAF collaborates with the business community to support music, dance, theatre, visual art, film and more, strengthening the community. Not only does FAF manage the Arts Tourism grants for the City of Frisco, the Foundation also raises private funds to offer grants to women arts-repreneurs, minority artists, emerging arts organizations, as well as over $50,000 in scholarships to pursue a career in the arts.

Congressional Youth Arts Contest

ARTS SELECTION MEMBER
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives as an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our own Congressional District. I have served on the Arts Selection Committee for Congressman Van Taylor and enjoy supporting our talented students across our Congressional District.

ADVISORY BOARD
Because of my leadership impact in the arts, I was asked to join the Legacy Christian Academy's Advisory board to assist in curriculum development and student involvement in the arts. I also collaborated on community engagement opportunities for students interested in a career in the arts and worked with the Headmaster to offer their new 600-seat Performing Arts Center for use by the greater Frisco community. One of the first community productions will be presented by North Texas Performing Arts in 2022.

GRANT REVIEWER
The mission of the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) is to advance our state economically and culturally by investing in a creative Texas. TCA supports a diverse and innovative arts community in Texas, throughout the nation and internationally by providing resources to enhance economic development, arts education, cultural tourism and artist sustainability initiatives. I served as a grant reviewer for arts organizations seeking funding for innovative programs offered in Central Texas.

NONPROFIT ADVISORY COUNCIL
The mission of Collin Corporate College is to provide high quality, affordable, and flexible on-demand training and educational programs to support the growth of business and industry throughout Collin County and beyond. The Collin Corporate College aspires to be the singular choice for customized training in Collin County. I served on their Nonprofit Advisory Council, representing leadership in education and the arts, providing input on new initiatives. 

Frisco ISD Independent Studies Program

MENTOR
The FISD Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) is a rigorous elective offered at Frisco ISD high schools, designed for high-achieving juniors or seniors. Upon completing the applications and interview process, students conduct research throughout the year on their chosen topic and select a mentor within the community to gain real-world experience. I was honored to mentor two phenomenal FISD students pursuing arts administration and nonprofit management, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at all aspects of community leadership in the arts.

ADVISORY BOARD
Leadership Prep School is a charter school that serves students who live within the geographic boundaries of Allen ISD, Aubrey ISD, Celina ISD, Denton ISD, Frisco ISD, Lewsiville ISD, Little Elm ISD, McKinney ISD, Plano ISD, and Prosper ISD. It is a nonsectarian public school of choice that receives funding from the State of Texas and adheres to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). My Advisory role in this award-winning charter school involved mentoring current teachers, providing internships, and integrating students' academic pursuits into real-world opportunities within the community.

Stonebriar Mall Music Program

FOUNDER
I grew up spreading musical cheer at nursing homes, the mall, and other public spaces with my mother, our church choir director. I wanted to continue that tradition with my children and worked with the General Manager of Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco, establishing the first community musical concerts over the holidays called "Sounds of the Season." This program offers weary shoppers free musical cheer right outside Nordstrom in the month of December. The program has grown every year since then, with more schools, organizations, and individual musical acts sharing their talent with our community. Every holiday season, I enjoy seeing the smiles on people's faces as they stop to hear the music and take a mental break during the busiest time of the year. 

Frisco public art board

SECRETARY
The mission of the City of Frisco Public Art Program is to promote cultural, aesthetic, and economic vitality in Frisco, Texas by integrating the work of artists into public places, civic infrastructure, and development of the community. Two popular programs of the Public Art Board include Art in the Atrium, where local artists display their work in City Hall, and the Public Art Collection, funded by the city's Percent for Art program, where a percentage of Capital Project Funds are to be used to commission public art. During my term, I helped select the artist and artwork found in the Frisco Athletic Center. The city's Public Art Collection now spans over 70 pieces, which means if you live in Frisco, you're an impressive art collector!

MEMBER
As a member of the 2015 Citizen Bond Committee, I successfully spearheaded $10 million in general obligation bonds towards the construction and equipping of a Cultural and Performing Arts Center in Frisco. The $268 million referendum consisted of eight no-frills propositions to provide the basic services needed for our first-class, growing city, including new streets, stronger public safety, more parks and playgrounds, a new senior citizen activity center, and an expansion of our library. The only projects that have yet to break ground since 2015 are Grand Park and the Performing Arts Center. These projects are two of my top priorities for Frisco. It's time to finish what we started!

PR/MARKETING CHAIR

With almost 2,000 members across the state, the Texas Music Teachers Association is a professional association for independent and collegiate music teachers in Texas. My role as PR/Marketing Chair involved organizing and promoting TMTA's 100th Birthday Celebration through targeted brand management, streamlined content, social media engagement, original articles for TMTA Magazine, and community outreach throughout the North Texas region.

DIVERSITY CHAIR
As the first Diversity Chair of the Council of PTA's, I created innovative ways to celebrate the cultural diversity in Frisco ISD. I launched new programs like the Multicultural Minute, featuring students in their traditional cultural clothing and native language; the program is now adopted in 11 FISD schools. I also organized the Council of PTA's first participation in the Frisco Community Parade during Veterans Day weekend with the Multicultural Float to represent the diversity in our city. Frisco is quickly becoming an international hub, with 26% of residents identifying as Asian-American. I'm proud to see young children waving the American flag as they walk down Main Street in their traditional cultural clothing every year, honoring our veterans and their service to our country.
